35. Photoperiodic, adjective. From Greek photos, “light,” + periodos, “a going round.” Relating to any aspect of an organism’s reaction to the length of time each day during which it is exposed to illumination.
Light grows long, light falls short. Everything alive is supposed to notice. I didn’t think to flower here, or start to sing; I guess I’d hoped to be more seasonal.
Hours in the sun today. The darkness still took me by surprise.
