135. Aeolian, adjective; also eolian. Of, caused by, or relating to the wind. Aeolian processes—notably the abrasion, transportation, and deposition of sediments—transform every corner of the planet, often in surprising ways. (Consider the fact that the action of winds is responsible for the existence of sand dunes in Alaska.)
After Aeolus, Greek god of the winds; ultimately from aiolos: “swift, inconstant.”
